Neighbors and Friends,
My name is Jennifer, and I am running for San Jose City Council District 5. I am a proud 3rd generation citizen of San Jose. My grandparents settled here in the 1950s having tended the orchards from Morgan Hill to Sunnyvale and also helped build the same roads we still drive on today. My grandfather left the field to work for IBM, and rooted our family in what has now became Silicon Valley. Growing up in a middle class family and working to put myself through college at Foothill Community and continuing my education at San Jose State University, I understand our daily struggle.
Over the years I have worked for building architects and technical engineers and have been an active public speaker advocating diversity in technology. My diverse background has offered me a firm connection with the working citizens of District 5. I have come to understand the needs of our parents and teachers, our landscapers, shop owners, our commuters, and Seniors. I have watched San Jose grow and change over the last few decades and have struggled with my neighbors through the growing pains of San Jose’s increasing population, and budget deficits.
District 5 needs a representative that can advocate for the needs of our neighborhoods and not just downtown. Our current council focuses on courting Google and denying permits for housing outside downtown, while our communities continues to struggle with rapidly increasing rents and evictions. I am also running for City Council to focus on open government, fiscal responsibility, and neighborhood redevelopment. I am running for City Council because I have passion for San Jose.
Show your passion and vote Imhoff for District 5.
